What a year of South Florida does to these machines
Salt in the air, dust that never really settles, and humidity that keeps every seal working harder than the manual assumed. On a Whirlpool none of that shows up as an error on a display, because the maker publishes cleaning instructions for these conditions and no readings at all. So the visit is a list and a set of measurements: coil temperature before and after clearing, drying time before and after the duct, the drain pump filter that has never been opened, the gasket tested rather than glanced at. What you keep afterwards is the list, in order of risk.

I rent the unit out. Is this worth doing between tenants?
It is the cheapest moment to do it and the hardest one to arrange later. A washer filter, a dryer duct, a refrigerator coil and a dishwasher filter take one visit while the unit is empty, and three of those four are the calls we get from tenants at nine in the evening.
How long does it take across a whole kitchen and laundry?
Most units here are two to three hours for everything, and it is priced on the time rather than per machine, so one visit covering six appliances costs far less than six calls.
